Supporting People who are Pregnant and Postpartum to Quit Tobacco

Services like home visiting, lactation services, and 1-800-QUIT-NOW not only offer critical services to help your patients have a healthy and happy pregnancy, but they also provide your patients the extra boost and reinforcement to quit using tobacco. In this module, you will hear from a variety of New Hampshire professionals who work with people who use tobacco before, during, and after their pregnancy. They will share their insight and experience in how they motivate patients to consider quitting and support them along the way with their challenges.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the unique issues related to supporting people who are pregnant and postpartum to quit tobacco.
  • Confidently provide a robust, tailored response to people who are pregnant and postpartum.
  • Make appropriate referrals to resources such as 1-800-QUIT-NOW, NH Home Visiting Program services, and NH Lactation Program services.
